Mother of the Bride Cocktail Dresses

For a summer wedding, a short dress in a cocktail style may well be appropriate. 

Even all year round, this is a simple style option when teamed with the right accessories .

For semi formal and informal weddings, the appropriate attire will probably be a dark suit for men and cocktail dresses for the ladies.  If you're not sure what to wear, it's worth clarifying it with the bride or groom, or whoever invited you.

Putting Together The Perfect Outfit

This season the classic style is back, with a twist - add a touch of glitz and glamour - with jewelry, belts or even a shimmering clutch bag.

For the petite figure, a jacket and skirt can look smart and elegant, particularly if they co-ordinate well.

For curvier girls, there are some simple, figure flattering fabrics that can look great whilst allowing for comfort and movement.  Adding a wrap or pashmina around the shoulders can add the right touch of glamour and still flatter your figure. 

To accessorize, a bolero or jacket adds that little something extra and brings with it a more formal feel.   Add a sprig of flowers or corsage for that pretty bridal touch.

As your legs are on show in this style of dress, don't forget to consider an appropriate waxing or beauty treatment, as well as a pedicure if you're wearing sandals.  Adding the right sort of sandals or heels can really flatter your legs and ankles and add the elusive touch of glamour.

All wedding guest should wear modest clothing, not showing off too much cleavage, after all, this is a day when the bride is supposed to be the centre of attention!
