Often times we hear and see so much about mother of the bride dresses. While weddings are usually considered the “bride’s day” we can’t leave the groom or his mother in the background! Here are a few simple pointers that will make dress shopping easier for the mother of the groom.
1.It is all about the fit
One of the most important things to focus on when shopping for a mother of the groom dress is the fit. You don’t want to walk down the aisle on one of the most important days of your son’s life with this popping out or that hugging too tight. Be sure to accentuate your best or most favorite features. Love your legs? Pick something a little shorter to show off those stems.
2. Stick with the theme
While you do want to buy something that makes you feel comfortable and gorgeous, you have to keep in mind the theme of the wedding. If it is a black tie affair you will want to go with something longer and more elegant. If your son and his bride are getting married on the beach, focus on fabrics that are light and flow with that beach breeze.
3. Consider your son’s opinions
Has he always told you how much he loves a certain color on you? Take that into consideration when looking for your dress. Your son may not seem to care about your outfit, but I assure you he wants you to look and feel your best on his wedding day. Talk to him about what colors and fits he things you look best in. Maybe even take him along for a few shopping adventures!
4. We can’t forget the bride!
In your eyes this is your baby boy’s big day, but we also have to remember the bride. Whether she is a laid-back easy going gal or a real bridezilla, make sure her opinion is heard.
Above all, make sure you are comfortable in whatever your decide to wear! You want to focus on your son’s special day, not the tightness of your dress.
